This collection reflects the huge influence of growing up in rural North of England has
had on Kitty Pennybacker. There, the practical country uniform is focused on layering
up to keep warm, against the harsh winds, no though given to style. All focus is on
warmth, with the piling on of mens silk long johns, moth eaten woolen cable jumpers,
shrunken polo neck tops, mud stained jeans and belted mens tweed overcoats. This is
offset by the furnishings and interiors of the ‘drawing’ and ‘dining’ rooms of the home,
where gilt pictures frames, silverware and wall tapestries add an element of tarnished
metallic to her design aesthetic. The collection plays with the tweed seen on traditional
country attire and the picnic rug. These are re-imagined in marl yarns, reflecting the
colors of the Yorkshire hills entwined with the lurex, representing the interiors of the
